WHAT IS ASTROLOGY?
Sometimes people get confused in understanding the difference between Astrology and Astronomy, here are their definitions:
ASTROLOGY noun: The study of the positions and aspects of celestial bodies in the belief that they have an influence on the course of natural earthly occurrences and human affairs.
ASTRONOMY noun: The scientific study of matter in outer space, especially the positions, dimensions, distribution, motion, composition, energy, and evolution of celestial bodies and phenomena.
Astrology has a long history with humankind. We have been watching and recording the movement of the stars and planets for ages. It was used to understand the seasons, when to plant and when to harvest. Many celebrations and rituals where preformed based on the position of different stellar bodies.
Then technology came along and from Astrology came Astronomy when humanity developed the scientific tools for observing the solar system.
In modern times, Astrology is used in many ways. A way to understand ourselves and how we fit into the world around us. It can also be used as a divination tool to determining the compatibility between two people.
What Astrology can do begins with a chart.
Examples of these are:
Natal- A chart drawn up based on the time and date of a person's birth that shows the individuals personality and potential, their strengths and weaknesses, their needs and desires
Composite- Is when two natal charts are compared to each other. The astrologer will look to planetary placements and the aspects they form. The end result is much like a Natal chart in that is shows the energy & potential and the strengths & weaknesses of the relationship between the two individuals. This is also sometimes referred to as Synastry
Progressed- Is a chart that represents a year in the life of the individual and what things could occur, things to watch for and the positive and negative influences the individual may face in that year.
SIGNS
Everyone knows their sign, but what does that really represent?
When a person asks “What is your sign?” what they are really asking is;
“Where is the Sun positioned in the sky at your time of birth?”
