WHAT IS TAROT ?

A real quick crash course:
Ace of Chalices
Tarot is a deck of 78 cards that are divided into two parts. The first 22 cards are called the Major Arcana and demonstrate the aspects in life that are universally influenced. The second part is the Minor Arcana. These are divided into four suits; Pentacles, Cups, Wands & Swords. These four suits all have 4 elemental attributes, seasons & areas of human nature. The Minor Arcana reflects the areas in life that we, ourselves have power over.

Generally the cards are shuffled and pulled at random. Most times, the cards are put into positions that are specific to an individual spread. The cards are then read by integrating the cards meaning in relation to the focus of its position in the spread.

There are many ‘Dos & Don’ts’ out there about Tarot, but my personal belief is that most Tarot Don'ts are myths.
I feel these myths where put into place by groups trying to keep such things away from people, and by those individuals who want to keep Tarot steeped in mystical mystery so to steer away potential customers, the logic & message being for both cases;
"You can't DO that!"
The thing is, YES YOU CAN!
Anyone can pick up a deck, shuffle the cards and ask a question and read the cards.
If you are picking up a deck for the first time, then, like anything else we must learn, we use a book and do our 'homework'.
There is nothing less to the cards in the hands of a new reader. The reader's only weakness is being new to the 'language' of tarot.
Learning how tarot speaks takes time and is a never ending journey.

What It Takes

The first thing needed when it comes to reading tarot cards is obviously a deck. There are many out there to choose from.
No matter what your hobbies or interests are, I’m quite certain that you can find a deck that suits your personality.
The second thing needed is an open mind. Now I don’t just mean that you have to be open to say, magic or others life-styles. You have to be open to what the cards might tell you about yourself. There will be times when they will give a message that we do not want to listen to. A sub-idea that goes along with this is personal destiny.
The general public is misinformed. They think that Tarot is strictly a fortune-telling tool and to an extent it is. The fact of the matter is that tarot is very keen at letting us know the direction that we are going in as well as what direction we can turn in order to change things. Never is the future written in stone. But the cards can give a very precise picture of futures that do come to pass. Later in my writings I will tell you about one of these accurate futures foretold in the cards.
Another aspect in the area of open minds is the way the cards will send their message. There are traditional meanings to the cards, but they are also pictures and as the old saying goes, ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’. The idea is to not just apply the traditional meanings, but to allow the imagery speak to you. When fully open, tarot will become a catalyst to the psychic abilities inherent within us all.

WHAT IS ASTROLOGY ?

STARS & CARDS - Dragon's Moon

There is Astrology and there is Astronomy. People sometimes confuse the two, but they are not really far off in making that mistake.
Astrology has it's beginnings way back in time. Long before there was written history, humanity has looked to the sky for guidance and answers. Astrology is the parent to Astronomy. More recently in man's historythings became more scientific and Astronomy was born. This divided the Metaphysical from the Mathematical.

Astronomy is the study of the physicality of planets and stars, as well as all other things floating around in the endless Universe.
Astrology is the study of the stellar bodies (planets) within our solar system and their influence on humans based on their positions within the Zodiac.

SOME TERMINOLOGY

ZODIAC-
Is the sky divided into twelve sections and known by the constellations within.
The zodiac is the first known celestial coordinate system.
It is also known as the 'circle of animals'.

SIGN-

The 12 constellations of the Zodiac as assigned to the 30 degrees of the sky they occupy and termed 'SIGNS' when used in Astrology.

The SIGNS are:
Aires - Taurus - Gemini - Cancer - Leo - Virgo - Libra -
Scorpio - Sagittarius - Capricorn - Aquarius - Pisces

When some one asks "what's your sign?" It's not quite the right question because there are many signs associated with each person for there are 10 'planets' and a rising sign. What people are really asking what is the position of the Sun at your time of birth.

PLANET-
There are 10 planets in an astrological chart

The PLANETS are:
Sun - Moon - Mercury - Venus - Mars - Jupiter - Saturn - Uranus - Neptune - Pluto
